JKAS Examination:     Jammu and Kashmir UT Service, better known as Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS), is the prestigious service in the UT of J and K. The JKAS Exam is conducted by JKPSC (Jammu Kashmir Public Services Commission) at UT level. The exam is conducted in three stages. The first stage is preliminary test (PT) which is just a screening test to allow students to sit in the next stage of examination. The next stage is Mains Examination. After qualifying this tier, the candidates are called for interview. Interview (Personality Test) is Conducted  by a panel constituted by JKPSC Chairperson and members. Final result of JKAS exam is declared after this stage. Then JKPSC send the selection list of qualified candidate to Government  Medical College Jammu and Srinagar for the medical examination of the selected candidates respectivly. Salary of KAS Officer in 2023:

Junior scale JKAS officer is a entry level of Administrative Services in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. JKAS is one of the Best Jobs in Govt. sector in UT of J&K. The JKAS includes three prestigious services viz, Administrative Service, JK Police Services (JKPS) and JK Account Service. Candidates are recruited both directly and by Departmental promotions in the ratio of 50:50.

JKPSC conducts JKAS Examination for direct recruitment of JKAS Officers. 

Let's talk about the salary of JKAS officer at Junior scale level.

Junior scale level is the entry level which has grade pay equal to 4800. Revised pay scale of this post after 7th pay commission is Level 8. The pay band is 47600-151100. The basic pay under level 8 is Rs. 47600.

Starting pay of JKAS Officer who Joins in 2023.




 

Basic pay -Rs. 47600/-

Dearness Allowance (DA) @46% of basic pay-Rs. 21896/- (4% hike w.e.f 1st of July 2023)

HRA @ 18% of basic pay- Rs. 8568/-  in Jammu and Srinagar City.

HRA @ 9%- Rs. 4284/- in other area/districts. 

TA @1800+DA (46% of 1800) = Rs. 2628/-

Medical Allowance (MA)@ Rs. 300.
 
TMA (Travel/Moving Allowance): Rs. 2000/- For those officers who are working in Secretariat/any HOD office which is moving with Secretariat of Jammu and Kashmir.

So in case of officer posted in Jammu or Srinagar City, the Gross Salary Becomes

Rs. 47600+21896+8568+2628+300= Rs. 80992/=
So the NET SALARY = Grass Salary Minus NPS

NPS = 10% of Basic Salary+DA
That is 10% of 47600+21896= Rs. 6950/=

So Net Salary = 80992-6950= Rs. 74042/-
 
In case of Officer posted in Secretariat/Moving Office: 72257+2000= Rs. 76042/-

Out of Jammu or Srinagar Cities the Gross Salary is Rs. 47600+21896+4284+2628+300= Rs. 76708/-


So the NET SALARY = Grass Salary Minus NPS 

NPS = 10% of Basic Salary+DA
That is 10% of 47600+21896= Rs. 6950/=

So Net Salary = 76708-6759= Rs. 69949/=


There are some other deductions also from the gross salary:


1. Income Tax Approximately 25 to 45 Thousands depending upon you have some saving in the form of Investments under LIC, PPF, Loans, etc.)


So this is the net salary which a JKAS officer gets at the beginning of the service if one Joins the services in 2023.  Later on increments at the rate of 3% per year on basic pay is added and DA also rises regularly after every 6 months, once in the month of January and again in the Month of July. Dearness Allowance is the allowance which is given to the employees to cope up the problem of Increasing Inflation in the market.


Now  from the month of July 2023, DA has risen to 46% as already mentioned above.
