Which language should be used in Interview of UPSC or JKPSC.

Many candidates are scared about the language to be used during the Personality test or interview of the any civil service examination. As we know that the interview or the personality test is the final or 3rd stage of the civil service examination. So candidates who have qualified the CCE main Examination are called for appearing in the Interview.

Most of the candidates are unaware how to appear in the interview, what is the main language used in the interview before the interview panel, how to dress up, how to behave, what questions will be asked in the interview, etc.

Here we will talk only about the language usage in the interview. Language is the important component of our life and of a society. There is a huge diversity in languages across the country and in our UT.

In an interview, there is no bar on the type of language used by the candidate. The candidate can use any of the recognized language like Hindi, English, Urdu, or mixture of the same.

The following things should be kept in the mind while you are appearing in the interview and are unaware about the in what language one has to communicate with the members.

1.       1. Try to answer the question in the language which the board members are asking in.

2.      2. If you are uncomfortable in answering the question in the particular language in which the members are asking, then you may request the member or chairperson of the board to use a language in which you are comfortable. For example if you are comfortable in Urdu, you must firstly request the member then use as directed by the member.

3.       3. If you are comfortable in more than one language, then you can use the mixture of the same. For example, if you know Urdu and English, then you may talk some part of your conversation in English and other part in Urdu.

4.       4. Try not to mix words of more than one language. It seems to give bad impressions.

5.       5. Do not use any native language. Only use standardized languages.

6.       6. It is a good thing that a civil servant knows more than one language, if you know more languages, tell to members, as a civil servant it’s a plus point.

7.        7. Try improve your fluency of the languages like English before interview while you are preparing.

8.         8. Try to give one or more mocks. It will be helpful.
