It is the art how one manages time for the social media sites and the preparation for any exam like KAS exam. Social media has both negative and positive impact on aspirants. This article is dealing with the discussion how social media can be utilized effectivly for the preparation of civil services examination or any other examination.

Lets discuss in detail.

Negative aspects.

There are many negative things associated with social media which a civil service aspirant must avoid.

• Addiction.

It is the most important negative thing associated with social media usage. People become addict of it. But a civil service aspirant must know the value of time. One should not be the addict of social media if one wants to crack the KAS exam. It is a total Time wastage if you are visiting the social platforms for the purpose of peer gossiping, chatting, watching unwanted stuff, etc. There is one thing which every one experiances about social media, the Fear of missing out. Every one of us looks at our smart phone every few minutes. This is called fear of missing out. We expect that we are missing some updates on social media platforms like facebook, instagram, etc. Avoid to become the addict of social platform on internet.

• Following wrong pages and groups

As there are many pages and profiles related to the preparation stretagies for IAS, KAS examination on facebook, instagram, etc. Avoid to subscribe all of them as all are not providing data up to the mark. It will be a total time waste to read the content of all pages. Similarly too many channels are present on youtube where you will get large content regarding KAS preparation but only few chennals are genuine which provide right kind of guidance to you. You must be able to recognize the effective ones and subscribe only the genuine ones. Following too many groups and pages is a time waste exercise. You have to manage time for your exam.preparqtion.

• Rumors.

Avoid believing rumors regarding anything related to the exam of KAS. Many people starts uploading fake content in order to divert the candidates towards other things. So do not share or get influenced by the roumers. Keep checking official websites like JKPSC, UPSC if you have any doubt about any kind of notification issued by the recruiting agency. Many people circulate fake notifications issued in the name of JKPSC, UPSC or any organization. Do not believe them.

• Do not use too much number of social media platforms for study purposes.

Keep yourself restricted to few only. Facebook, instagram, whatsapp, Telegram, etc are enough for study purpose. We can manage the time by effectively choosing right social media platform for study purpose.

• Whatsapp groups.

Do not be a part of too many whatsapp groups which shares the content related to KAS exam. As there are many groups in which many people are not preparing for the exam more seriously.

After avoiding these negative things regarding the social media, we can focus on how we can utilise the social media platforms effectivly during our preparation of KAS examination. There are several key points you must keep in mind as discussed bellow.

Use of Facebook and Instagram.

Like these pages on facebook, instagram and telegram.

1. Useful Pages related to content of syllabus, basic guidance, books information, etc.
2. Usefull pages realted to content of news and current affairs.
3. Usefull pages giving content related to the interview.
4. Usefull pages for solved question paper and test series.
5. Useful pages sharing content related to mains examination.
6. Useful pages sharing content related to General studies.
7. Usefull pages of Govt departments and training institution like LBSNA, JKIMPA, RTI( Revenue training institute).
8. Usefull pages and profiles of successful candidates.
9. Usefull pages and profiles of top ministries.
10. Usefull pages and profiles of top Govt officers.
11. Pages and profiles of various famous Motivators.
12. Pages and profiles of top coaching institutions
13. Pages and profiles of top news channels.
14. Pages and profiles of leading news papers.
15. Pages and profiles of top educators.

Use of Whatsapp.

There are so many groups on whatsapp where there is continuous sharing of the content related to general studies, current affairs, news items, e-news papers, etc. You may become the part of such groups and this will help you to gain something new and regular updates on daily basis.
Whatsapp can also be used for sharing of data related to KAS exam among the peers. It is an instant mechanism where we are able to share bulk of material very quickly.
We can simply share the links of important websites which are selling the online study material related to KAS IAS exam.

Use of Youtube.

Youtube Study material.
It is one of the best source today becouse many study related chennals are avaialbe on youtube. You may choose one or two chennals for each course. For example subscribe one seperate chennal for current affairs, news analysis, news editorial analysis, general studies, optional studies, prelimnary paper studies, etc. You may divide your whole day time to cover the different subjects on youtube. Studying on youtube needs more precations as you tube has ample of content, you may sink into different chennals which are not relevant to the topics of subjects of your need. So you must take care of time and should not waste your time to watch useless conent. You may watch some entertainment content at regular interval after you complete some topics. This is important for your refreshment. But ensure you are not wasting time in such way. You must subscribe the important channels so that you may not miss the important upcoming vedios of the subject. At the same time you may save the vedio for later use. But most important is that you must make notes from videos so that during your revisions, you will not face any problem in searching the content again and again on youtube. The most important precaution you need is to save your eyes from laptop screen or mobile phone screen. For this you must pause watching the screen for about 15 mintues after regular 1 hour online study so that your eyes may not get affected by intense light coming out of the gadget screen. Leave the laptop and go outside and refresh your eyes by looking on green grass, and look far objects in order to prevent your eyes from far sightedness as continuously looking at screen may damage eyes and cause nearsightedness. Online study needs eyes care also.
One of the way to study core subject like Indian Modern Hostory. You may watch all video lectures and then move to the handbook. Now it will be very easy to read hand book.
Another way is to start with your hand book and then shift to the youtube video lectures. But this again needs to be shifted to books for revision purpose as you can not revise the subject quickly by youtube vedio lectures.
Another benefit of youtube is that you may watch the interviews of succesful candidates. It will continuously motivate you for doing KAS or IAS. Keep watching some famous personality interviews. It will help you keep motivated everytime. Watch mock interviews of successful candidates. Watch media interviews of candidates who qualify the exam.

At the end it is again suggested to avoid negative aspects of the social media. If you are able to do so you will definately be benefited from social media platforms for the preparation of KAS or IAS exam. So social media and KAS exam preparation is conneceted to each other if we manage time and use this platform efficiently.

Thanks for reading the article. Hope this will help you. Stay connected for continuous motivation for KAS exam.
