Writing skills are developed over the period of time during your educational career. It is a gradual process. If you are appearing in KAS mains examination and you are afraid of writing the answer, we here are mentioning about 10 ways of answer writing by which you can imrpove your answer writing to fetch good marks in mains Examination (KAS).
1. Number of questions you attempt:
Mains score depends on how many questions you attempt and answer in each paper. In order to score high, you must attempt at least 95 to 100 percent questions. Not a single question should be left unanswered. Now what is the stratagy for attempting all questons? There may be some probelems that lead to lesser number of question attempts. One possible reason is slow writing. Improve your writing speed if you are a slow writer. Secondly, you know the answers but you write extra content in some answers and that leads to the shortage of time for other questions to attempt. This is also a cause of lesser number of questions sttempts. If you attempt a question, you will get at least some marks. If you completely leave a blank sheet for a question, you won't get any mark. So try to attempt 100 percent in KAS mains papers to get good marks.
2. Length of answer:
Length of the answers also influence the marks. If you write lengthy answers for the questions that do not required so, it means you are writing extra things in the answers and this leads to the shortage of time for other questions. So try to give equal time for equal wataged questions.
Time Management in exam hall is very important to fetch good marks. You must write same amount of content for same wataged questions. For example write two pages of answer for each of 10 marks question.
3. Diagrams and Illustrations in answer:
For the subjects like, Botany, zoology, physics, chemistry, anthropology, geography, statistics, etc diagrams are very necessasry part of the answer. Diagrams must be drawn by using pencil. Although some candidates can draw the diagrams by pen, but you must prefer the sharp pencil. Drawing diagram is also an art. It needs lot of practice to draw a clean and neat diagram. During your preparation you must draw a a diagram about 10 times for attaining perfection. Try to draw diagrams on the plan page during your preparation. Yes, speed of drawing diagram also matters a lot. You have less time in the examination hall so you need to draw the diagram very fast. During final revisions, draw the diagrams again. Initially you will take enough time to draw but after practising about 9-10 times your speed of drawing will also increase. Try to draw simple diagrams. After drawing, label the diagram well. Now where to draw a diagram? If your answer is short and it is taking a single page to cover, then draw the smaller sized diagram on the same page on right side of the page. Seperate the diagram from the text. Or you can write the answer on half page and draw the diagram on other half of the same page. For long answers, you must draw large sized diagram on a single page.
4. Style of writing and pen used:
Font size of the text should niether be very large or very small. You must be able to fit about 7-10 words in one line. And do not leave a line empty but write in each line of the page. Leaving a line in between two text lines (like children do) indicates the immature writing style. Next thing you need to mind that you must use a thick ball pen for writing the title, heading and subheadings in the Answer. Use two types of pens one with small ball point and other with large so that heading and subheading can be easily identified as Bold text. Do not use coloured pens. Use single coloured (blue) Pen.
5. Way of Writing answer:
Another important thing is the way you write the answer. There may be different layouts you design and represent your answers. Some of the styles are as Essay type answers, Point wise answers, Graphic representations, Flow charts, etc. It depend on what the questions demands, how much time you have in the examination, and what actually you want to express. For example if there is a question that describe the causes, effects, and measures of Air pollution. It can be described in essay style if you have enough time. But if time is less you may just graphically represent the answer. Draw a circle in the centre of page and write Causes of air pollution in its centre. Then draw some arrows radiating from the circle and name the causes at the end of arrows. This is just graphical representation of "causes of airpollution". Write similarly the effects and measures of air pollution. It will save time and energy and your answer will look as simple one.
6. Content of the answer:
Yes the most important thing regaring the answer is the Content of the answer. An answer must have only the relevant content. You must reply only what is asked in question. It will save your energy and time also. If you write some thing irrelevant that will be a wasteful exercise. Answer must be to the point. You can add only limited examples in your answer. There should be no repetition of sentences in your answer. Make sure that you are able to express your real knowledge. Try to write in your own words. Use simple and easily understandable vocabulary. Answer in a straight way. Only good content will fetch good marks.
