How to fill Service Preferences for JKAS Mains Examination/Service Preferences in JKAS Examination.

As there are only three kinds of Services under Jammu and Kashmir Administration Services.

1. Junior scale Administrative Service
2. Jammu and Kashmir (Gazzeted)Accounts Services
3. Jammu and Kahsmir (Gazzeted)Police Services.

During the filling up of Mains examination, you must have to give preference of these three services in the application form.
Once you submited the Preferences of the services, you will not be able to change the preferences.
What are the factors you should consider while choosing the Services under JKAS.

1. Your Interests.

What kind of services your are interested in? This is the first question you must know about. Junior scale Adminstrative Services is the most preferred services among the candidates because it includes lot of common services/ departments like, Civil secretariat, Revenue services, Rural development department, labour department, employment department, social welfare department, Excise Department, Employment Department, Social Welfare Department,  etc. This servies gives an opportunity of working in different fields during the services career of an officer.  So if you are interested in such services you must give first preference to this service.

Another service is Jammu and Kashmir (Gazzeted) Accounts Service. This is the service you have to deal with Accounts in whole of your service. Although you will have to work in all the departments but only task is to deal the accounts of that particular department. You may posted in any department as Account Officer or in treasuries as a District Treasury Officer, etc.

The third service is the Jammu and Kashmir (Gazzeted) Police service. This service is also the best service as you become directly a Police Officer with three stars on your shoulder in the initial postings. The initial postings in this service is Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) in Jammu and Kashmir Police. If you have a choice of this service, you may choose this service as your first preference in the mains examination application form.

2. Number of posts advertised in each service.

The second factor is that what is the number of posts advertised by the JKPSC in the particular service ?or we may say that what is the vacancy of the particular services? You may choose the preference as per the number of posts advertised. The chance of getting a particular service also depends upon the number of vacancies in that services.

3. Merit.

Third factor ia the your merit. Because the service you will get will be purely depend on the number of vacancies and your merit. This system of selection is called as merit-cum-preference system. If you are falling in high merit zone, chances of getting first Prefered service is more and vice-versa.

So this is how you must fill your preferences of services during the filling up of mains application forms in case of Jammu and Kashmir UT Civil Services Examination.
