The best source to study Modern History.

Modern history is a part of syllabus of UPSC as well as JKPSC civil services examination. Paper-2 of JKAS examination comprises of Indian Heritage and Culture,  History and Geography of world and Society. In this paper History is one of the component. Now we will discuss only about how to prepare for modern History of Indian.

For modern history one of the most important book is written by Bipen Chandra. This book is much appreciated for its content and for extensive and in-depth studies. The book is cost effective also. The book describes the period from arrival of British in Indian up to the independence of India in a succinct manner.

If aspirants are not in a position to deal with this book, there is another very cost effective book named as Spectrum, a brief history of Modern India. This book is just a second copy of Bipen Chandra book. Comparatively this book is more easy to understand due to its easy language used. The book contains each event of Modern Indian in a sequence as a result the reader finds it very effective to make a connection between the two past events happened in succession.

Some aspirants says that it's not possible for them to get all the understanding of book in just one go but requires more revisions to get full understanding of topics. Aspirants and qualified candidates also suggests that one should make base of History by going through NCERT history books before shifting to this Book. Once you complete the basic books then it will be easy to understand this book.

A part from these books of modern history, some online material is also available like Vision IAS, Mrunal Lectures, etc which are also much helpful to understand the Modern historical Events.

One suggestion from a Qualified candidate is that the aspirants should not use multiple sources of a particular subject or topic but should stick to only one or at most two sources of material because going with different sources will make much confusion about the subject.

In a nut shall it's very clear that Spectrum Modern History book is much effective to cover the subject of Modern India to fetch good marks in  JKAS examination Paper 2.

Stay connected to stay Motivated for JKAS examination.

Thanks..
