Overview of JKAS examination.

JKAS Examination:     Jammu and Kashmir UT Service, better known as Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS), is the prestigious service in the UT of J and K. The JKAS Exam is conducted by JKPSC (Jammu Kashmir Public Services Commission) at UT level. The exam is conducted in three stages. The first stage is preliminary test (PT) which is just a screening test to allow students to sit in the next stage of examination. The next stage is Mains Examination. After qualifying this tier, the candidates are called for interview. Interview (Personality Test) is Conducted  by a panel constituted by JKPSC Chairperson and members. Final result of JKAS exam is declared after this stage. Then JKPSC send the selection list of qualified candidate to Government  Medical College Jammu and Srinagar for the medical examination of the selected candidates respectivly. Different Posts or Services under KAS.

Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) which was initially called as KAS  is one of the highest Govt Service of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. And JKSPC conduct the most toughest Exam called Civil Service Examination to select the candidates for this prestigious service. This exam is a three tier exam and many people keep the high aspirantion of getting inducted in this service in J&K. There are three services under this service.

1: JK Administrative (Gazzeted) Services
2: JK Accounts (Gazzeted) Services
3: JK Police (Gazzeted) Services

JK Administrative Service is considered to the the highest service where people get involved in direct public administration. There are about 40 different Departments of Administrative services in J&K. The selected candidates gets the most prominent posts in this service like Under secretary of a particular Department in the Secretariat of UTJ&K, Tehsildar in Revenue Department, Block Development Officer (BDO) in Rural Development Department, Joint Director in Education and other Departments, etc. Initially there was a system that once a selected person got a post in a particular department, he or she will remain in that department up to the retirement. But now there is rotational system of postings and persons are transferred from one to other department after every two years.
The training for Administrative services is conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Institute of management, Public administration and Rural Development (JKIMPARD) at Jammu and Srinagar seperately.

JK Account Services are the second category of services in JKAS. the selected candidate have their foundation course training at JKIMPARD But soon after other part of training is conducted by Directorate General Accounts and Treasuries Govt of Jammu and Kashmir. After training the candidates are placed as A count officers in all the departments to handle the work of accountancy related to the department.

JK Police Services are also the most prestigious services in the UT under JKAS. Training of candidates is done under the police academy in Jammu and Srinagar seperately for the candidates of Jammu province  and Kashmir province. After training the candidates get posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) with Three stars on the shoulders.
All three services carry prestige, Pride, quality, Reputation and High Confidence. 
JK students are much crazy about getting these services and are regularly taking exams of JKPSC.
